Chapter III is the focus of this course and needs to be written by following the logical flow of ideas written for chapters 1 and 2.
• Introduction – repeat purpose statement (copy and paste exactly)
• Methodology
Implementation Model (Choose from Melnyk Chapter on Models, chapter 11).
Describe stakeholders and organization/system or setting where EBP will be implemented
Procedures of how you as the APN (not RN) will utilize the selected model components to describe step by step a clear plan to implement intervention as recommended solution/practice change by authors of the literature you synthetized in chapter II to change practice that is currently going wrong to improve outcomes in your chosen population.
(To do this, the problem statement with internal and external evidence, clinical expertise, patient preferences and values in Ch. 1 had to be written clearly)
Data Collection
State what Demographics of specific population would you collect and why
State what Quantitative or Qualitative data or both would you collect and why for each
Data Management (How would you keep data safe)
Data Analysis (What type of data analyses could be utilized?(see samples in literature reviewed)
Evaluation of practice change (How would you evaluate the practice change to see if intervention worked to solve the stated wrong practice)
Identify facilitating factors for implementation of proposed intervention
Identify barriers to implementation of proposed intervention
Summary

Evidence-based Practice: Remdesivir

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has become a global health concern due to the nature with which it spreads and the ever-increasing number of deaths it causes. Given that Covid-19 has become a serious threat, different pharmaceutical companies have manufactured drugs that are either meant for vaccinations or others as an attempt to treat the disease. One of the recent developments from the pharmaceutical companies in the manufacture of Remdesivir, intended to treat hospitalized patients with severe coronavirus infection. This paper establishes whether using Remdesivir in hospitalized adults with severe coronavirus infection leads to reduced hospitalization periods as opposed to the traditional care methods that do not involve using Remdesivir.

Methodology

The implementation model for this project will be Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Quality Care. The model traces its development to the University of Iowa in the 1990s. It was developed to guide nurses on using research findings to improve overall patient care. The model adopts the diffusion of innovations theory and is credited for its simplicity when applied by interprofessional healthcare teams. The model is most applicable in this context because it encourages clinicians to consider questions as the major opportunities for improving practice and healthcare. According to Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2019), using the model calls for identifying triggers by identifying problems or from new knowledge. The next step is identifying useful questions applicable in clinical settings that can be addressed through the EBP process, followed by identifying issues that may be a priority for the concerned organization.

The fourth step of the Iowa Model is forming a team that will develop, implement, and assess the needed practice change. After the relevant team is formed, the fifth step is to pilot a practice change followed by a pilot evaluation. The last step is evaluating practice changes and disseminating the results through feedback loops, reflection analyses, evaluation, and…………….
