Men were found to have higher levels of job satisfaction when they had a high level of autonomy and a strong sense of accomplishment in their work, while women had higher levels of job satisfaction when they had supportive supervisors and colleagues and a positive work-life balance (Kossek, Lautsch, & Eaton, 2019). These findings suggest that management can take steps to address gender-based differences in job satisfaction by providing opportunities for both men and women to have a sense of autonomy and accomplishment in their work and by creating a supportive work environment that promotes work-life balance.
