A cell’s division determines an organism’s growth and reproduction. The division of cells is triggered by meiosis (mitosis) in eukaryotic cells. Although they may be different in their respective nuclear division methods, they can still work together. For either process to happen, it is necessary for a cell with two sets (or diploid cells) of chromosomes to divide. When a cell divides, its genetic material (DNA), is multiplied twice and split equally among two cells. A cell cycle describes a sequence of events that a proliferating cells goes through. Mitotic cells are activated when certain signals or pathways signal that there is a need to divide the cell. Body’s somatic cells undergo mitosis to reproduce (Cairo & Lacefield, 2020).Fat, blood, skin, and any other type of bodily cell that is not a sex cell are examples of somatic cells. It is necessary to replace any cells with a shorter lifespan, which are either dead or injured. In sexually reproducing organisms, meiosis is the process through which gametes  are produced (Bailey, 2019). Female and  Male gonads create gametes, which have half as many chromosomes as the initial cell. Genetic recombination that takes place during meiosis results in the introduction of novel gene combinations into a population (Cairo & Lacefield, 2020). The meiotic cell cycle produces four distinct genetic cells, as opposed to two identical genes generated in mitosis. Cont…
