Purpose: In this project you will pull together your knowledge of child development and practice applying that knowledge to designing activities that support development.
 
Tasks: There are three sections: creating a developmental profile for a child, designing an activity to meet the childs developmental needs, and sharing information about the childs development with the family. See below for details. Use the Section 1, 2, and 3 forms. Find them in Canvas in the Synthesis Module.
 
Criteria for Success: There is a rubric to guide you in this project and it will be used for grading. See Synthesis Rubric 115.

It is suggested you think about what you know about general child development for the age group and what the profile child needs to work on and practice based on the developmental profile you wrote. Next, design an activity that will allow for learning based on general child development knowledge and for the profile child to work on a specific goal. After you have an idea of the activity, review the readings and other course information to enhance your activity, as needed, to fit in with the strategies and theory that you have learned about.

Section 3: Observation, Assessment, and Sharing Developmental Information
Imagine you are preparing for a conference with the profile childs family. Think about how you will get information from the family and what you would like to tell the family regarding the profile childs development. This is one of the regularly scheduled conferences and should include all developmental domains. You can include information about the activity from Section 2, however that is only part of the information. Think of it as a quarterly family-teacher conference in which the family learns about how the child is doing in school and the teacher learns more about the child at home.
