The Training and Education System

The training and education system is a complex web of different levels that provide education and training opportunities to individuals. This system is comprised of school, vocational education and training, higher education and Certificate IV in Career Development. Each of these sectors has its own structure and operation, and all facilitate the learning and development of individuals (Cary, 2019). Schools provide a foundation for learning, with programs ranging from kindergarten to grade 12. Students attend school for the duration of their primary and secondary education, and are taught a variety of topics to equip them with the knowledge they need to progress in life. “Schooling offers an essential foundation for lifelong learning and is the cornerstone of any successful education system” (Cary, 2019). Vocational education and training (VET) supports individuals in pursuing a career in a trade or specific field. It is a practical, hands-on approach to learning, which is often offered as an alternative to higher education.
