Extranet and Intranet: What is the difference?

A intranet, which is restricted to employees of an organization, is an internal network. An extranet, however, is open to clients and business partners. While intranets are primarily used internally for communication and collaboration, extranets may be used externally for communication with outside parties. A 2015 study by the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology found that intranets are networks within an organisation and can be used to exchange information and resources.() A network made up the extranet and enterprise’s intranet, but extended to other companies, partners, suppliers, or businesses is called an extranet.
