Literature Review Reminders Posted on: Sunday, September 29, XXXXXXXXXX:30:00 AM EDT Hi everyone, As you complete your literature review this week, please carefully review these reminders regarding the purpose and format of the literature review. 1. Review the presentation in Module 2 that discusses exactly what a literature review is and how it should be formatted. 2. A literature reviewshould not bejust a repeat of your annotated bibliography! 3. A literature review should use the sources you read for your annotated bibliography to place your research question within the context of the broader, recently published literature on your topic (for examples, see the first couple of pages of just about any peer-reviewed, published journal article — they all start out with a literature review). 4. Do not simply reformat your annotated bibliography, writing one paragraph per citation, and turn that in. That is NOT a literature review! You must discuss your research question and how it fits in the current literature on the same topic. Your paper also should not be organized as “qualitative” and “quantitative” articles. The type of research does not matter as much as how that research relates to your own research question. 5. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me! This is a 150 point assignment, so you need to be sure you're on the right track. Hopefully by now you each see how the format of the course was set up to help you develop a research proposal in a systematic way. You began by doing some basic research on your topic, reading the most recent literature on that topic. From there, you chose a research question based on the information you found in your readings. Then, you worked from that question to develop a research proposal, or plan. Now you're writing a literature review, the first step in writing a scientific research paper. Next week, you'll focus on refining your three discussion boards and creating a detailedPowerPointpresentation of your research proposal. The only remaining steps, which we will not conduct in this course, are to conduct your research and write up your findings. Look how much you've accomplished over the course of this term! Blessings,
Dr. Stewart Literature Review: Policy Findings Report Instructions This assignment is the culmination of your Annotated Bibliography. An important outcome of this course is for you to be able to interpret and communicate research findings. In order to assess whether or not you are able to interpret and communicate research findings, you must complete an assignment that requires you to do just that interpret and communicate. You will use the 10 articles (or more) that you found for your Annotated Bibliography, and you will report on and synthesize the findings of these articles into a paper of 7501000 words. This is not a summary of the findings (you have already summarized the articles); this is a synthesis. If you have questions about literature reviews, go back to the course readings and course presentations on literature reviews. This is similar to the Article Interpretations that you have already written for this course; however, in this assignment, you are blending at least 10 articles (of which there must be 5 qualitative and 5 quantitative) into a findings report. Therefore, in this assignment, you will focus on the findings of the articles. This assignment must be formatted in current Turabian style. Submit your Literature Review: Policy Findings Report by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Saturday of Module/Week 7.
