Understanding Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and map projections are essential for efficient navigation and interpretation of spatial data. The geographic grid is a reference system used to accurately identify and locate geographic features. It is based on a two-dimensional surface, most commonly the Earth’s surface, where each point is assigned a set of coordinates (Hall and Goodchild, 2019).
