Applications of Information Systems to Colleges 

In colleges, information systems (IS), are used to automate and accelerate the analysis, storage, and management of data. The integration of IS into college operations and the development of technology has been essential in recent years for both administrative and instructional activities. These are just three examples of how IS can be used in colleges.   First, Student Management Systems (SMS) are typically used in universities and other higher education institutions to track students’ admissions, attendance, grades and records (Bhushan and Sharma, 2018). The system can also be used to increase student recruitment. It allows for communication between student and institution. SMS provides real-time information about student records, including attendance records, course catalogues and other details. This can be useful for college course planning and coordination (Ogbonnaya and al. 2020).  Learning Management Systems are second used to manage course materials, students registered, lesson plans daily, grades, performance, and other information (Zhang and al., 2020). These systems can be used to manage and develop instructor resources, such as course syllabuses, assignments, and exams. It makes teaching and learning easier by making it possible for instructors to create and distribute course material faster and streamlining student evaluations.   Campus Security Systems (CSS), which are designed to increase safety and security on campus, can be used. CCTV surveillance, access control, and light sensors are all part of the system to protect campus buildings. They are used to store, track and manage data of college employees and allow for secure access to buildings. CSS can be used to secure and monitor common spaces, parking lots, and other locations on college campuses (Kumar & Paul, 2015).  IS offers many applications for colleges such as campus security, student management, and learning management.
