Exploring Parallelism in Everyday Activities

Parallelism is a concept in computing that refers to the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. This can be done in order to reduce time and increase efficiency. In this essay, I will explore which of my typical weekday activities can be done in parallel and how much time can be saved through this approach. My typical weekday activities include getting out of bed, taking a shower, getting dressed, eating breakfast, brushing my teeth, drying my hair, and walking my dog. Of these five activities, brushing my teeth and drying my hair can be done in parallel because they do not rely on the completion of the other. For instance, while I am brushing my teeth, I can also dry my hair with a hairdryer. This will save time because I will not have to wait for one task to be completed before starting the other. Similarly, eating breakfast and brushing my teeth can be done in parallel. While I am eating my breakfast, I can brush my teeth simultaneously. This will reduce the time taken to complete both tasks as I can multitask instead of having to complete one task before starting the other. However, not all of my activities can be done in parallel.
