My definition of marketing is identifying a consumers wants and needs and showing them how the product or service can improve their circumstances.

My definition of social marketing is when we use marketing not for the purpose of driving revenue, but for the purpose of engineering a certain behaviour from a populous.

My definition of consumer behaviour is the actions, thoughts and feelings of the consumer at any point in time.

My definition of new media is the mass adoption of the new developing technology that we can use to communicate.
From a marketing-research perspective, list a few ways that a “Market Segmentation” can be conducted to maximize our understanding of consumer behaviour. Explain the type of market segmentation you chose.
Market segmentation can help us break down our target market to the smallest niches, to help us better understand who is the perfect avatar to purchase the product or service and who isn’t buying. For this example, i’ll use demographic segmentation. Demographic segmentation can be used to define which age group of a populous is most likely to purchase from you. You can now use this information to create a more superior marketing campaign geared towards the age group that is buying most.
List one leading company’s announcement on mergers, acquisitions, investments, or divestures regarding consumer social media (or technology). Provide a very brief synopsis and cite the link. ->
I chose this announcement from Apple on how they do their acquisitions. My synopsis is: Apple is actively purchasing companies and has purchased over 100 in the past 7 years. They buy mostly technology companies such as an augmented reality company and a lot of the times if there is only a few employees, they will come and work for Apple. Apple also typically doesn’t use bankers for their transactions depending on the scale of the company being acquired.
