History of the NCO 1700

The Continental Army’s six-month encampment at Valley Forge marked a significant turning point in America’s Revolutionary War. The troop’s defeat revealed the numerous challenges within the temporary camp that left the soldiers struggling to survive. The suffering resulted from poor camp sanitation and layout plan, diseases, inadequate food and fighting gear, and the lack of standardized maneuvers and drills, among others. This paper discusses how poor camp sanitation and supply shortages affected the soldiers and influenced the battle’s results. George Washington, the then president of the United States, came under heavy criticism for the failures of the American troops and the surrendering of the American land. The war left him with 12,000 poorly fed men nursing war injuries in a crowded poorly-planned camp and no funds to cater for their needs (Smith, 2020). The General despaired and made desperate moves to keep his army intact, like threatening to shoot deserters on sight.  ………….
