One research article that I found in the GCU library is “The effects of a mindfulness-based stress reduction program on nursing students’ stress, anxiety, and depression: a randomized controlled trial” by Kim, H. S., Lee, S. H., & Park, S. Y. (2021). In this study, the authors aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression in nursing students. The sample for this study was selected using a convenience sampling method, where the participants were recruited from a nursing college in South Korea. The inclusion criteria for the study were nursing students who were willing to participate in the MBSR program and complete the study measures. A total of 72 nursing students were recruited, and they were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n=36) or the control group (n=36). The experimental group received the MBSR program, while the control group received no intervention. Convenience sampling is a non-probability sampling method that is easy to implement and does not require a lot of resources. However, it may not be representative of the target population, as the sample may not be representative of the characteristics of the population. In this study, the sample consisted only of nursing students from a single college in South Korea, which may not be representative of nursing students in other countries or institutions. Despite this limitation, the results of the study showed that the MBSR program was effective in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression in nursing students.
