Cyber Security Attacks: Exploring the Different Types   Cyber security attacks are malicious attempts to access, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to a computer system, network, or device. This is often used to access sensitive information like passwords and credit card numbers. Many hackers seek to interfere with the operation of a computer system and compromise its confidentiality, integrity, availability, or accessibility (Lloyd (2015)).   Denial of Service (DDoS), attacks which prevent or limit access, as well as snooping (and surveillance) that seeks to gain unauthorized access, can all be cyber security attacks (Natsev 2018). Spear Phishing, also known as targeted email phishing or DDoS attacks, is another attack which tries to get sensitive information from the victim, such passwords and credit card numbers. (Kaine 2019, 2019). Ransomware attacks that encrypt sensitive data are also a common attack method and often demand payment in exchange for the encryption of their data (Spencer 2021).   Organizations must be vigilant about cyber security threats and ensure that they take preventative measures to safeguard their networks.
