Switch-Based Networks: The Advantages 

The advantages of switching-based networks are greater than their hub-based counterparts. The primary benefit is increased speed and throughput due to the switch’s capability to establish multiple connections simultaneously. The devices can separate the data and allow for faster information exchange. This is a significant improvement in the speed of time-sensitive apps compared with a hub that sends data as broadcast packets. The switches also allow for greater control and can assign, monitor and authenticate users to limit or restrict access to the network. Administrators have the ability to protect data and establish subnets, as well as limit the use of the network. (Chou et. al. 2015).  For improved user experience, switches have been recognized for creating mobile IPs. When a user connects to the switch the device assigns them an IP address. This IP address is stored in memory. This increases device mobility, and allows for automatic configuration when users change segments. Fahrettin (et al. 2021). Finally, the switch’s intelligent packet filtering allows for a more secure networking environment.
