AI Security Platforms: The Truth and the Hype

Security platforms are increasingly using AI technology to identify and stop threats quicker and more efficiently. There has been much speculation about AI’s potential as an effective tool in high-end security. Although AI can be a valuable tool in enhancing security measures it should also be noted that many of its abilities are exaggerated and subject to practical limits.  The time required to train an AI system with labeled data to be able to identify and react to threat on its own is a significant drawback. AI is still a viable option when combined with other security measures. For example, it can provide automated anti-malware scanning assistance or automated reporting and analytics applications.  AI is also a tool that can help address shortages in manpower and resources within the security industry by offering automated insights and predictive capabilities. Combining traditional security measures and AI-driven insight and analytics can help AI to identify threats early on.  Overall, AI could play a major role in strengthening security and mitigating risks, but it’s important to temper expectations and understand that AI can achieve only so much on its own.
